FLOAT THERAPY

Our Float therapy will only available at our D-Novo Massage & Spa locations. For updates please follow us on Facebook, Tik Tok, and Instagram.

Our Float Therapy is done in a very unique environment, which is sound proof and can be reduced to complete darkness. Our Float Therapy is done in a special pod or tub that contains a solution of purified water and about 1000 pounds of pharmaceutical grade Epsom Salt (Magnesium sulfate). The water is gently heated to skin temperature.

The water is only about 8-10 inches deep and so dense with Epsom Salt that your body will become very buoyant and it will float effortlessly. It's just like floating in the healing waters of the Dead Sea. The effects of gravity on your body will seem to disappear!

Once you are settled in the water, your awareness and sensation of your body will begin to fade. It is almost as if the outside world has quietly faded away, leaving you in your own space for relaxation.  The feeling of weightlessness is the perfect environment to help your body relax and release

Color Therapy & Music Therapy

Our float pods and rooms are equipped with special lighting (at your control) that can produce a relaxing  light show or be dimmed down to complete darkness! Our float room also has the option of floating in silence or playing relaxing meditation music. Our equipment is equipped with special underwater speakers that can resonate music completely through your body!

Floating Releases Endorphins

Flotation therapy helps you reach a deep restful state. Endorphins are released by the brain as you float . These endorphins are powerful, natural pain relievers and mood enhancers that promote a sense of well being. This process can also enhance the healing benefits and sensation of relaxation created by the zero-gravity environment

Meditation by the Sea

Meditative State of Relaxation

Aside from the release of endorphins, brainwaves will also shift into a Theta state. Theta brainwaves are normally achieved by people trained extensively in meditation. Floating can be considered a shortcut to the deepest states of mind and well being.

Before You Float

FAQ

How should I prepare for my float?

  • It is recommended that you don't have caffeine before you float. It may interfere with your ability to relax. We do have some very good complimentary tea.

  • Try to eat something light before your float session. Hunger can be very distracting and may interfere with your experience.

  • Try to postpone shaving until after you float. The water is super-saturated with Epsom salts and may be uncomfortable if you are freshly shaved.

  • Don't wear contact lenses to float. The salt water may get into them and damage them.

  • If you dye your hair, wait at least  2 weeks before floating. The time frame may vary depending on the quality of they dye. Please consult with your hair dresser for any questions. Epsom salt can strip the dye off your hair if it hasn't stabilized properly.

  • For adults, you don't need a bathing suit. It is recommended that you float nude. Our Float Rooms are completely private and any clothing you might be wearing while you float can become distracting.

Are there any conditions/contraindications that may prevent me from using the tank?

  • People with epilepsy not under medical control.

  • People under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any psychoactive substances.

  • People with infectious diseases or open skin wounds.

  • People with schizophrenia.

  • People with new tattoos please allow at least 6 weeks of healing. The density of our salt can pull the ink and ruin your tattoo.

Can pregnant women use the tank?

Yes. We suggest that pregnant women inform their physicians and get their opinion prior to using the tank. Otherwise,  floating is very beneficial for pregnant women. Floating can be a great relief from the pull of gravity. Floating has given many women a welcome rest as their bodies change throughout the pregnancy.

Can I use the tank if I'm menstruating?

Yes, if you use a tampon.

Can children use the tank?

Yes. Parents/guardians will need to supervise children 12 and under inside the float room. For teenagers, we require parents to be on our premises, but not necessarily in the float room. We require all minors to use bathing suits in case they need assistance from our staff.

What if I fall asleep?

Floating is a very relaxing experience and some people do safely fall asleep while floating.

What is the best way to float?

Each person should find whatever position is comfortable for them. Some people float with their hands at their sides, some with their hands folded across their chest or abdomen, or with their arms up. Float the way it is comfortable for you and explore what is best for you.
